Surround Sound processing

Stereo Lab incorporates sophisticated digital signal processing for the enhancement of standard stereo tracks to 5.1, 5.0 or 4.0 Surround Sound. For more information go here.

In addition, using Stereo Lab Audiophile, historic Quadraphonic recordings may be converted so that they play faultlessly on modern 5.1 systems. Quadraphonics required signal processing which was difficult and expensive to implement in the nineteen-seventies and in analogue circuitry. Being entirely digital, Stereo Lab implements the required signal processing with an accuracy only dreamt of in the days of analogue decoders. For more information go here.

Stereo Lab Tonmeister and Audiophile also implement the decoding (or, more properly, transcoding) of Ambisonic Stereo UHJ recordings to 5.1 Surround Sound. Once again, the necessary signal processing is accomplished with an accuracy impossible with analogue decoders. For more information go here.
